Mary Jo Leddy and Kathleen McAlpin, RSM, discuss crucial questions refugees ask.

  1. Do you have people in your life who are tremendously driven by their past and anxious about their future? What have you learned from them?
  2. Where do you currently find meaning in your spiritual life? How is it different from several years ago?

Mary Jo Leddy is the founder of Romero House for Refugees, a community where she has lived for twenty-five years in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is active in human rights issues and the peace movement. As a writer, teacher, and advocate for many, she accompanies people in exile and builds hope in communities.

Kathleen McAlpin, RSM, currently serves on the SDI coordinating council. McAlpin has experience forming both spiritual directors and supervisors at universities in Canada and throughout the United States. She views the role of spiritual direction as central to nurturing community. McAlpin serves as a theology teacher and spiritual director with Mercy Spiritual Ministries of the Mid-Atlantic Sisters of Mercy.
