Rev. Dwight H. Judy, PhD, and Br. Dan P. Horan, OFM, converse about how Teresa of Avila and Francis of Assisi can be relevant to seekers today.

  1. How does the issue of poverty impact your spiritual direction ministry and service?
  2. What intrigues you about mysticism? How does the idea of an interior or inner castle speak to you?
  3. How else do you see these ancient thoughts and ways of living coming to life in your daily practice of connecting to God?

Rev. Dwight H. Judy, PhD, is a professor of spiritual formation at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, USA. His books include Embracing God: Praying with Teresa of Avila; Christian Meditation and Inner Healing, and Discerning Life Transitions: Listening Together in Spiritual Direction, a Spiritual Directors International Book.

Born in Pensacola, Florida, USA, and raised in Utica, New York, USA, Br. Dan P. Horan, OFM, studied theology and journalism at St. Bonaventure University before entering the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor. Horan has lectured, delivered academic papers, and presented workshops in both the United States and Europe. His work focuses on the retrieval of medieval Franciscan theological insight for contemporary application.
